What is Minto?
Civilizational gameplay, solved.
Minto has solved civilizational gameplay. In terms of Minecraft servers, this would be best described as achieving the perfect balance between anarchy servers (zero-safety) & pacifist SMPs (full-safety). Minto is the perfect in-between; everything can be protected, but nothing is completely invincible (this leads to explorable cities, real wars, and real politics). If you’ve never played a Minecraft server, just consider Minto effectively as a simulation of the real world.
You can get rich from building, fight in complex raids and massive wars, create empires filled with real players, and engage in authentic politics and drama with real game-theory. Everything you do on Minto is real, and involves real players, with situations playing out in ways not too different from the real world itself.
This has been achieved through careful development of clean mechanics, which all work in harmony to solve one of the hardest problems in gaming - true civilizational gameplay in multiplayer, where you are effectively free to do whatever you want.
Explore a traversable, global planet
When you first join, you'll spawn in a region corresponding to your real-world location — Australians start near Australians, Americans near Americans, Europeans near Europeans.
You'll be able to travel Minto, which is built like a globe via 12 connected pentagons called tiles, each representing a distinct region of Earth.
Feel free to travel the world on foot, using cardinal directions to navigate. Hold tab to see where you're facing, North, South, East, or West. It's possible to witness two sunsets in a single day by moving quickly enough around the planet.
